Born 24th May, 1819, Alexandrina Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, reigned for 63 years from 20th June 1837 until her death in 1901. Born at Kensington Palace to Edward, Duke of Kent and Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, her reign saw enormous strides in trade, art, sciences and literature. The work of these innovators and their far-reaching talents laid the foundation of our modern world, including that of Charles Dickens, whose work is as vital and relevant today as it was during the reign of his Queen.
